American musician and actor Awkwafina debuted with sly rap tracks that tackled sexual identity and race with a boldly comedic perspective before increasing her presence in Hollywood. She was born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrants from Forest Hills Queens her first taste of musician life came through the trumpet.
